General Manager Overview

Our client is looking for a General Manager to join their established retail business, overseeing the day-to-day running and commercial performance of a store.

The General Manager will be responsible for driving sales, managing store operations, and leading a team to deliver excellent customer service and achieve business objectives.

General Manager Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day running of the store, ensuring operational standards are consistently maintained.
• Drive sales and profitability, ensuring targets are achieved and costs are controlled.
• Monitor store performance and identify opportunities to maximise commercial results.
• Maintain high standards of customer service, presentation, merchandising, and housekeeping.
• Lead, motivate and develop the store team, providing coaching and support where required.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
• Respond to customer needs and local market trends to maximise sales opportunities.
• Manage stock and ensure the store operates efficiently.
• Create a positive working environment, encouraging teamwork and high standards.
• Undertake any additional duties as required.

Requirements

• Previous retail management experience is desirable.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of retail sales performance.
• Experience leading, motivating, and developing a team.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to customer service and store operations.
• Good communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage competing priorities.
• Fashion retail experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
