Garment Technologist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Garment Technologist to join an established and growing fashion business, working across a varied range of childrenswear and adult products for a diverse customer base.
Responsibilities
- Manage the technical development of garments from initial concept through to production, ensuring products meet required fit, quality and compliance standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical specifications and workbooks to support costing, sampling and production.
- Liaise with overseas manufacturers throughout the product development process.
- Request initial patterns, development samples and sealing samples from suppliers and provide clear technical feedback following assessment.
- Measure and assess garments, identifying fit, construction and quality issues and communicating accurate comments to factories.
- Attend retailer fit meetings and fittings, either in person or via video conference, and coordinate feedback and approvals.
- Work closely with factories to ensure garments meet customer specifications, legal requirements and agreed quality standards.
- Ensure relevant risk assessments and technical documentation are completed and maintained.
- Monitor the critical path throughout development and production, identifying potential delays and ensuring key dates are achieved.
- Manage the submission and approval of final production samples and associated technical information.
- Create and amend patterns in support of product development. Training can be provided.
- Build effective working relationships with Design, Buying, Technical, retailers and overseas suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure products are delivered to the required standard.
Additional Information
The successful candidate will have previous experience working within garment technology or a related technical role. They will be organised, commercially aware and confident communicating with suppliers, retailers, and internal teams.
The role requires a full driving licence and a willingness to travel to retailer fittings when required.
