Garment Technologist Overview

We are working with an established international fashion supplier who is seeking an experienced Garment Technologist to join its growing technical team. Working across both womenswear and menswear, you will play a key role in ensuring products meet the highest standards of fit, quality, and performance throughout the development and production process.

 

Garment Technologist Responsibilities

  • Measure, assess, and fit development samples alongside the design and product teams.
  • Create and maintain accurate size specifications, grading information, and technical documentation.
  • Provide detailed fit comments and technical guidance for prototype, sales, pre-production, and production samples.
  • Maintain product records, ensuring all technical notes and amendments are clearly documented.
  • Monitor sample progress to ensure deadlines within the production critical path are achieved.
  • Participate in fit sessions and recommend practical solutions to improve garment fit and construction.
  • Ensure products consistently meet required quality and manufacturing standards.
  • Review inspection reports and quality assessments, identifying and resolving technical issues where necessary.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve production challenges and support on-time deliveries.
  • Offer technical expertise during product development to improve garment performance, enhance quality, and identify cost-saving opportunities where appropriate.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective communication throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Champion quality standards while maintaining a commercially focused approach to product development.


Additional Information

  • A technically oriented qualification
  • Experience working across multiple apparel categories.
  • Understanding of garment fitting, construction, pattern cutting, grading and grade rules.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook effectively
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team as required, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating effectively across diverse cultures and international teams
  • Various levels of experience will be considered
