Overview:

The main purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the technical development and production of products across a multi-product range, including menswear, womenswear, childrenswear and accessories. This is a fixed-term contract, offering the opportunity to play a key role within the technical team. The successful candidate will oversee product development from initial specifications through to final production, working closely with the design and wider product teams to ensure products meet the required standards for fit, quality, construction and commerciality.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Organising and managing own daily workload and allocated product areas to ensure production runs smoothly and to agreed timelines.
• Liaising directly with multiple overseas suppliers via email, video calls and other communication channels.
• Managing and updating production critical paths to ensure schedules are met for each product and order, working directly with suppliers to confirm lead times and delivery dates.
• Measuring and commenting on approval samples for construction, workmanship and fit, including proto, fit, pre-production and shipment samples.
• Approving lab dips and submissions from suppliers for each order, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise throughout the production process, working proactively with suppliers to identify practical solutions.
• Requesting and reviewing product testing reports in line with company and industry requirements.
• Liaising closely with retail, customer service and returns teams regarding product-related issues, coordinating solutions with suppliers where required.
• Where necessary, visiting overseas suppliers to manage production, sample approvals and resolve production issues.
• Managing technical size charts, grading and fit across the full product range.
• Keeping up to date with relevant industry guidelines, product testing requirements and safety standards, ensuring these are implemented appropriately.

 

Candidate Specifications:

• Experience working across multiple product categories.
• An interest in outdoor, active or performance apparel.
• Experience working with overseas suppliers, particularly across the Far East.
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior members of a technical team.

Communication & Personal Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and with suppliers.
• Adaptable, proactive and confident in problem solving and decision making.
• Comfortable communicating directly with overseas suppliers and managing relationships remotely.
• Able to work collaboratively while also managing responsibilities independently.
• Able to support, develop and nurture junior members of the team.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good understanding of pattern cutting, grading, garment fit, construction and product testing.
• Experience using Adobe Illustrator.
• Willingness to travel overseas when required.
• Previous experience within outdoor, sportswear or performance apparel

 

Additional Information:

• 12-Month Contract
• Flexible working – minimum office days Tuesday/Thursday, sometimes more if required.
• Full-time role, 37 hours per week 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday, 8-1pm Friday
