Overview:

This is a fixed-term contract opportunity within a fast-paced fashion design team. The successful candidate will be a key driving force within the menswear design team, taking responsibility for designing seasonal product predominantly across menswear, with the opportunity to support womenswear and childrenswear when required.

The role will involve developing creative and commercially focused designs, producing detailed technical CADs and specifications for suppliers, and supporting the end-to-end development of the collection from initial concept through to final product.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers, contributing to range reviews, fit meetings, sample approvals and product development, while ensuring collections are delivered to a high creative, technical, and commercial standard.

CAD literacy is essential along with excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience designing technical garments is desirable.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct seasonal trend, customer and competitor research to identify key trends, colours, fabrics and commercial opportunities, using these insights to inform and develop collections.
• Create exciting, commercially focused initial designs for presentation at range reviews.
• Produce detailed technical CAD packs, including accurate fabric, trim and construction specifications, for supplier development and production.
• Liaise directly with overseas suppliers to request samples, obtain costings and build strong, effective working relationships.
• Negotiate supplier prices and proactively resolve product development or production issues where required.
• Participate in fit meetings, sample submissions and product reviews to ensure designs are executed accurately, consistently and commercially.
• Attend relevant trade shows, industry events, conferences and supplier visits as required.
• Support and mentor Junior Designers and Interns when required, providing guidance, feedback and practical design support.

 

Candidate Specifications:

• Proven experience within a menswear fashion design role.
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Good understanding of fabrics, garment construction and product development.
• Experience working across multiple product categories, with an interest in outdoor and performance apparel.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of current fashion and consumer trends.

Communication & Teamwork

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to support, guide and nurture Junior Designers and other less experienced team members.
• Confident in sharing ideas, providing feedback and contributing to team discussions.

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to manage workload effectively, prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Willingness to travel when required.

 

Additional Information:

• 12-18 Month Contract
• Flexible working – minimum office days Tuesday/Thursday, sometimes more if required.
• Full-time role, 37 hours per week 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday, 8-1pm Friday
