Assistant Buyer – Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join a highly successful company, working across multi product ranges.

The Assistant Buyer will be responsible for managing clients product ranges and ensuring the product selections are commercially viable, and informed by data and market trends.

The Assistant Buyer will work with Account Managers and clients to deliver product assortments that are both profitable and aligned with client needs, and will understand the clients objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with all relevant internal teams throughout each stage of project delivery.
  • Source, evaluate, and present product options, including arranging samples and showcasing ranges to stakeholders where required.
  • Ensure all products meet client briefs, offer strong commercial value, demonstrate innovation, and comply with relevant standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure distinctive and creative product solutions tailored to each client.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to establish appropriate stock replenishment levels.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing, ensuring consistency and stability over agreed timeframes.
  • Review product ranges from both financial performance and market trend perspectives.
  • Track and manage costs associated with both plain and branded samples, recovering costs from suppliers where possible or incorporating them into pricing.
  • Stay informed on retail and industry trends and apply insights to product sourcing strategies.
  • Carry out regular trend research to ensure the commercial viability of product ranges
  • Set up and manage schemes within internal systems, including product listings, pricing, approvals, and purchase orders.

Additional Information

The Assistant Buyer must have some previous experience in or good knowledge of the buying process and be hard working with the ability to use their own initiative and work well as a team.
